is such a qualification that aims at persons wishing to continue their professional careers as early childhood educators. This diploma offers its graduates the necessary skills to develop, implement, and assess those programs that aim at optimizing the learning and development of children in different programs for the early years.

  • This diploma has a total of 28 units comprising of 23 core units and 5 elective units in total which is the competency required in the early childhood sector. Major units include

  • Child Development and Learning: This involves master in the development of a child to appropriate teaching processes to help in instruction.

  • Health and Safety: It’s about doing things positively such that the safety or health status of any of the children is not put on stake.

  • Curriculum Development: Preparing learning programs which are consistent with the approved learning frameworks and the national standards.

  • A minimum of 240 hours of practical placement in a registered child care center is one of the compulsory components of the course. This allows the students to put theoretical concepts into practice and have direct contact with the children under care and the families.

  • Graduates are adequately prepared to take up such roles as

  • Early Childhood Educator

  • Chief Educational Practitioner in Childcare Establishments

  • Director of Early Childhood Programs

  • Head of Education Program

  • Such roles are crucial in long day care, preschool and family daycare services.

  • For this diploma, applicants should be in possession of

  • An active USI

  • A Working with Children Card

  • The completion of Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment.

  • The program is designed in such a way to give room for timely completion of 6 months to 3 years based on the present conditions and the amount of work/study done by the participant. There may also be options for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and credit transfer, making use of various approaches to accommodate different types of learners.

  • The qualification equips individuals to take up gratifying roles in early childhood education, however, care provision is equally emphasized, that is, creating safe, healthy, and welcoming environments for children is highlighted.
